The short version: your jars live on your device. If you sign in, they're also backed up on our servers so your other devices can see them. Bank statements you scan never leave your device. There are no ads, no trackers and no analytics, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
SteadyJar is run by Media Yard LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company (“Media Yard”, “we”, “us”). Media Yard is responsible for the information described on this page.
Without an account
You can use SteadyJar without signing in. Your jars, deposits, notes and settings are kept in your browser's storage on that device and are never sent to us. Clearing your browser data, or Delete all jars in Settings, removes them.
Find my bills
When you scan a bank statement, the file is read by the app on your device. It isn't uploaded, and SteadyJar doesn't keep it. Only the jars you choose to add are saved, the same way as any jar you make by hand.
With an account (backup and sync)
If you sign in, we store:
- Your email address, to sign you in and to reach you about your account.
- Your jars: names, targets, due dates, colors, the amounts you add or take out, and any notes you write.
- Account settings: your currency and pay schedule, so every device uses the same ones.
- When you last used it: the last time the app opened or synced while you were signed in, so we can count how many accounts are active.
- Sign-in records: one-time codes and device sessions. We keep these only in scrambled (hashed) form. Codes expire after 15 minutes and are deleted within a day. A device stays signed in for up to a year, or until you sign out.
- Payday reminders, if you turn them on: that they're on, your time zone (so the email arrives at 9am your time) and when the last one was sent.
- AI assistant keys, if you make any: the name you give each key, your time zone, when it was made and last used, and a scrambled (hashed) copy of the key. We never keep the key itself.
- Pro status: whether you have Pro, when it renews, and the customer number Stripe gives us. We never see or store your card number.
We use this only to run SteadyJar: to sign you in, keep your devices and shared jars in sync, and know whether Pro is switched on. We look at totals, like how many accounts and shared jars there are, to understand how SteadyJar is doing; never at what any one person is saving for. We don't send marketing email. The only regular email is the payday reminder, and only if you turn it on; every one has a link to turn it off.
Shared jars
When you share a jar, we email an invite to the address you enter. Everyone in a shared jar can see it, its history, and the email addresses of the other people in it, and each deposit shows who added it. If you remove someone, or they leave, the jar disappears from their SteadyJar, but money they added stays in it. Invites that aren't used expire after 14 days.
Your AI assistant
With Pro you can make a key that connects an AI assistant you choose, like Claude, to your jars. Anything holding that key can see your backed-up jars and their history (including shared jars and the email addresses in them), log money in or out, and start new jars. It can't delete jars, change your account or move real money. What you share with that assistant is then handled by its maker under their own privacy policy, not ours. Treat a key like a password, and remove it in Settings → AI assistant when you stop using it.
Who helps us run it
- Cloudflare hosts the website, the app and the database where backups are kept. Like any web host, it handles your IP address and basic request details to deliver pages and block abuse.
- Resend sends sign-in, invite and reminder emails, so it receives the address and the message.
- Stripe handles Pro payments. When you subscribe, you give your payment details to Stripe directly, under Stripe's privacy policy.
We don't share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
Deleting your data
In the app, go to Settings → Backup & sync → Delete account. This removes your account, your backed-up jars, your settings and your sign-ins from our servers straight away. The jars on your device stay until you delete them there too. If you have Pro, cancel it first under Manage subscription; Stripe keeps records of past payments for as long as the law requires.
You can download your jars and their history at any time from Settings → Data → Export jars. You can also email us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you.
Children
SteadyJar isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you've already given us, we'll tell signed-in users by email first.
